Arklight – The State of the Story

I realize it’s been a while since I posted anything. The Arklight story is coming to a very exciting end. I just crested about 90,000 words and am writing the final few chapters. Titled “Arklight: Task Force Crusader”, this third and final installment of the trilogy will be significantly longer than the previous two books. There’s still much to do in order to get this one done, but I’m hoping to spend the spring in rewriting/revision mode. If all goes well, I hope to get it into editing by summer of 2019.

This final book will answer everyone’s questions about the ultimate weapon, the final solution, and how the journey will end for our heroes. You’ll also find out why Magnus is so driven and brutal. Arklight’s historical accuracy is right on in this final installment, and I promise you that it will absolutely floor you. You’ll either be terrified or grateful, depending on where you sit. I’m very excited to end this series with the biggest bang you could ever imagine.

Oh, what’s with the Ghent Altarpiece being displayed again? To take it forward, I gotta take you back in time. In Task Force Crusader, not only once, but twice, you will go back in time. In 1934, prior to the events of Operation Nightfall, two panels of the painting were stolen. While one panel was returned, the Just Judges panel was never recovered. If you’ve read Nightfall, you should be familiar with the Adam panel story. Let’s just say, there’s a ton of meat on the bone with the finale of this story and the infamous history of the Ghent Altarpiece.

Finally, after getting this one over the finish line in 2019, I’ll be working on a completely new project. The premise is interesting and I’m already working on certain aspects of the story. Updates will post again soon. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The ARKLIGHT Story Continues!

In preparation for the release of Arklight: Force Interdiction, I have completed a newly revised version of Operation Nightfall! I took a few liberties, adding a few sprinkles that will carry the story into Book 3 – Task Force Crusader.

I’m about two-thirds of the way into the initial write and the story is truly turning into a bitter battle of good versus evil. There’s so much history to discuss! The Nazis, Hitler’s escape from Berlin, the Alsos Missions, the Order of the Black Sun, the Teutonic Knights, and the Order of the Knights Templar. What an incredible journey!

Readers’ Favorite has already given two reviews, calling Interdiction “Powerful, Epic, and well-written.” The plot was described as “complex”, the characters “rich”, and the settings “brilliant” by the reviewers. Self-Publishing review and a few more should be coming out in the next couple of weeks!

Arklight: Force Interdiction is available on Amazon for Kindle Pre-release and the Paperback will drop August 13th, 2018

Arklight: Operation Nightfall will be FREE from August 10th – 12th for Kindle – It’s always FREE to Kindle Unlimited Subscribers!

Interdiction’s First Professional Review

Reviewed By Author K.J. Simmill for Readers’ Favorite (5 Stars)

In everything there must be a balance; against the forces of evil, there must rise a counter force of good. The plans for an ultimate weapon have been uncovered, and there are those who drive for its completion, drive for a world of scientific supremacy, and who will destroy all those who dare obstruct, challenge, or stand against them. They are the dark, and Arklight is a force for God, defending the light. Rescuing the brilliant mathematician, Professor Amaldi, was just the beginning. Coding and hidden messages in artwork bring more questions than answers, but one thing is certain – what they discover cannot be allowed to fall into enemy hands. The very future hangs in the balance as past, present, and future unite to fight the most important battle of all time.

If you’re looking for a graphic and descriptive wartime/religious fiction story, then J.M. Myrick’s Arklight: Force Interdiction may be the book for you. The entire book focuses on an epic quest and a battle of such impossible proportion that it spans time itself. Clear indications of time periods ensure the reader doesn’t become lost in the flow, as time lines converge, agendas align, and intervention exposes secrets to ensure that what will be can come to pass. This is the kind of book that possesses a steady pace, but there’s always something important happening. The characters are rich, the plot complex, and there are as many reasons to like it as there are threads and diversions. Well written to conjure up brilliant and atmospheric imagery, Arklight: Force Interdiction is an enjoyable read. Whilst this is the second book in the Arklight series, the previous book recap at the front expertly fills in any important need to know history to help the reader embrace the story if they’re joining part way through.

Happy Independence Day!!

I heard a wonderful rendition of this song recently. If you apply the context of the lyrics, written by Julia Ward Howe in 1861, as she looked over the thousands of federal troops about to deploy for the American Civil War, it has a very deep meaning. While the Civil War represented a terrible time in our history, it also represents the fact that our republic is worth fighting for at all costs. Have a safe and most excellent 4th of July!

The Battle Hymn Of The Republic

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored,
He has loosed the fateful lightening of His terrible swift sword
His truth is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps
His day is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnish`d rows of steel,
“As ye deal with my contemners, So with you my grace shall deal;”
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel
Since God is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet!
Our God is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me:
As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free,
While God is marching on.

Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

Arklight: Force Interdiction – “The Blurb”

Fight for yesterday… Hope for tomorrow…

The ancient Order of the Knights Templar hid pieces of Arma Christi all over the Earth, staving off disaster in their time. The locations to these weapons were documented in a cryptic journal, which remained a closely guarded secret for hundreds of years. In Operation Nightfall, Arklight’s Spear Team discovered the existence of the journal, and an epic mission unfolded, propelling a deadly event horizon. Powerful enemies have since emerged, intent upon bringing about the destruction of all things. The fate of mankind hangs in the balance. Spear Team must undertake a mission to secure a piece of the ultimate weapon, unfolding an incredible truth behind the legend.

Arklight and their predecessors, the Alsos Mission Team, fight an extraordinary battle across time, attempting to gain the advantage against a brutal foe. Paths collide when the history of their missions are shared, uncovering a multitude of secrets that span from the American Civil War, to World War II, and into the modern day. These ancient battlefields have forged a spectacular reality no one could have ever foreseen. A war of souls looms on the horizon; the showdown between good and evil explodes in this second installment of the Arklight series.

Every unknown history has an explanation

Look out Nashville! Book 2 of the Arklight saga will attempt to turn the city on it’s ear. Set in 2017, the team discovers some interesting truths as they relate to Book 1, Operation Nightfall. Things up for grabs; Nashville’s own history, lost gold, the Alsos Missions of WWII, Arma Christi, and the ultimate weapon. How can one book include the Battle of Nashville in 1864, secret missions in 1944 during WWII, and a modern day struggle with the fate of the world hanging in the balance? Arklight: Force Interdiction finds a way!

This story promises a thrill ride you won’t soon forget with remarkable historical characters like Sir Ian Fleming, Ensign John Bell, General John Bell Hood, and Nashville’s own Sarah Estell. Arklight will take the past, forging it into a believable fictional narrative of brotherhood, sacrifice, and teamwork. I hope to start putting in the final edits very soon and can’t wait to put this story out there. I’m a third of the way through the initial writing of Book 3, which will take this series to new heights. Thanks for your support and stay tuned for news on the upcoming releases!

It’s the small things…

A man stands on the side of the busiest roadway in the state. It’s dark, rainy, and traffic is unrelenting. Car lights flash from the shoulder of the road, people pass him without a second thought. He’s in crisis, because life simply got in the way. A small flashlight illuminates his silhouette as cars continue to miss him, only by a couple of feet.

A car finally stops, edging even closer to the wave of blurry lights and buzzing cars on their way home. It’s parked behind the car with the flashing lights, someone to help. A flash of electric blue catches the night fog, the man immediately knows everything will somehow be okay.

With tears in his eyes and a soft crack in his voice, he struggles for the words.

“My phone and my wallet are somewhere in the median… I just cashed my entire paycheck. I – I don’t know what I’m going to do.”

An effort begins, the man who stopped to help has a plan.

“Sir, we’ll figure it out. Let us go out there. You stay here.”

The man; older, handicapped, and upset, shakes his newfound helper’s hand. The man is wearing a red cap, tattered and worn. It displays – ‘USMC – Do or Die!’

A glance is shared between the men, something is uttered by the helper.

“Semper Fi.”

Almost an hour later; hundreds of more cars have passed, the helper has enlisted some of his friends to assist. Finally, a wet phone is located, still functioning. A wallet is found later; the man is overcome with joy and thankfulness.

Another hand shake is offered, and accepted. The helper and his friends simply leave, only to find someone else in need. They don’t want the thanks, they only want to see the effects of what they do. Making an impact; simply doing a small thing – often elicits the greatest reward. A simple feeling; knowing you made a difference for someone else. The helper and his friends? Cops.

These are the stories happening everyday as people pass those electric blue lights. Don’t forget those who are here to help you. Don’t pass on an opportunity to help someone else.

For the Marines out there, Semper Fi – Always Faithful

Arklight News

Thanks to the readers, Arklight: Operation Nightfall has been entered into an international book competition sponsored by Readers’ Favorite. That’s pretty cool! The group will also be doing a full review of the book and I’m already anxiously awaiting what they have to say. If it does well, it will be placed on the featured book list at https://readersfavorite.com

On another note, Arklight: Force Interdiction is almost ready for editing! I have received some awesome feedback from my beta readers and I’m proud to say book 2 will be a great continuation to the overall story. The addition of several strong female protagonists and a deeper look into Magnus O’Keefe will guarantee a fight like no other! Book 2 will take the reader much deeper into the overall plot, while further explaining the secrets contained within the Knights Templar journal. I went through great measures to ensure the historical fiction remained accurately weaved into a fictional narrative. The Arklight saga will continue with book 3, Arklight: Task Force Crusader, which has already being developed into an initial draft.

Thanks again for the support and look for book 2 to release sometime in April 2018. Check out the reviews for Nightfall on Amazon (4.9 out of 5 Stars). Available for Nook and iBooks as well.
